The Drought is Over in Shipley, Derbyshire

Zips, zips and more zips

7 down, 7 to go

each with a different coloured zip, and a different lining...the remit was 'plain' - I'm not that good at 'plain'!!
NO not a real drought...a metaphorical one. Hardly a stitch been sewn in the school holidays. Too much other stuff to do. But, I had a couple of deadlines, that I kept thinking about...but only THINKING about, but at last I knuckled down and rustled up a couple of baby changing mats. I really enjoyed doing them, using some new fabrics from the Festival of Quilts and some old favourites too. Plus, I cracked on with the 14 pencil cases that I needed to complete for Max's class at school - thank goodness it isn't a big class!! I'm N..EA..RLY...there. But it's great to be back in the swing again.

Quilted Car!!!

It's only just come to me...2 of my favourite cars at the World 2CV meeting at Salbris this year, resembled quilts!! What do you think?

Happy Birthday Dew Me

In the glorious morning sunlight, it appeared that Mother Nature or one of her little helpers had decorated the garden with extraordinary dew. This magical stuff glistened like a million tiny electric light bulbs like I'd never seen before. Cobwebs waved like flags, swaying in the breeze between skinny twigs and the bird feeder wore a golden crown and dangled a sparkling banner beneath. I've been trying to capture it on camera but I have a feeling that the pictures will be inadequate to reproduce this gift that I have unknowingly waited for for some 45 years.
Gifts come in all shapes and disguises when you reach the ripe old age of 45 years. Like a precious moment with the children, thrilled to give and watch me receive my presents. My morning filled with the laughter and love of girlfriends, whose friendship I value up there in the top ten of blessings. The good news that my Mum's hospital test results were clear...she can now breath a sigh of relief and share in her special day, the one that she gave birth, too.
One of my treasured gifts was a book of blessings, and today of all days I feel extremely blessed and thank each and every one who made this day such a special one.

Festival of Quilts Part 2

I have very mixed feelings about the exhibition - I must say that I'd hoped to be more inspired and I can't put my finger on why I wasn't?? Perhaps just a funny day for me, the moon was in the wrong phase...I was by myself and maybe you need someone to enjoy and partake in the day with you?? Because there was a HUGE amount of wonderful quilts and fantastic stalls. I took a notebook anticipating scribbling inspirations and ideas.. but it came back empty. How odd.
Never-the-less here are a few more snaps that I took of eye catching stuff

Festival of Quilts - Birmingham NEC 2011

WOW!! what a show... it was HUGE
I saw some great things
I bought some little gems
and was elbowed out the way by some very pointy elbows at times
but I chatted to THE MAN and he signed his new book for me ....QUILTS IN SWEDEN
this pic at the top, is a close up of the original quilt that is on the cover of the book

Boggled, bamboozled and gobsmacked!!

I've just got off the phone to TalkTalk and promptly burst into tears....

It all started because my computer shut down and wouldn't start again so its off to the menders for fixing or throwing at the wall. So I'm borrowing my Dad's and I'm trying to check my emails.
Only I have forgotten..my password it seems...I can't log in.
So after half an hour or so of faffing about I ring TalkTalk

According to their records I have no email account

I cannot access my emails... they don't exist

But I'm welcome to create a new account and choose another email address

Well..........??????????
